What is the variable that is controlled in an experiment?

In an experiment, the variable that is controlled or manipulated by the researchers is called the--

a. dependent variable

b. independent variable

c. control variable

This Q is confusing. It's for psychology homework. I need help, figuring out what it is. I'm thinking it could be any of the three--all three actually, because i only know that any of the three answers can be controlled by a researcher in an experiment.

i dont get it. there's one answer, though.

help.

:[What is the variable that is controlled in an experiment?
well the control variable is one in which is control.. for ex: if you want to find out if a shot caused a disease, the experiment people that got the shot would be the expirimental group, and the group that didnt get the shot would be the control group.

the dependent variable is the one that depends on the independent variable for ex: if you are comparing the distance you run vs your heart rate increasing. would your increased heart rate depend on your run? or would the run depend on the heart rate?

the heart rate speed would depend on the distance you ran. therefore the heart rate would be dependent and distance ran would be the independent.

the independent variable is usually on the x axis and depend is on y.

hope it helped! What is the variable that is controlled in an experiment?
b. independent variable

Independent variable: is purposefully changed in an experiment

Controlled variables: is constant during an experiment (remember the c's - *controlled and *constant)

Dependent variable: is changed according to the independent variable (the *dependent changes *depending on the other)

Glad I could help. =) I use to get so overworked about this kind of stuff, too!
I guess its B. because the independent variable is the one that you change or look at to see its effects on the dependent variable and the control variable I think is referring to the constants that would be the same throughout many trials.

Sorry for the wall of text.
dependent is measured, independent is changed and the controls stay the same

so the answer is

C
c if you mean controlled variable
it's c
