In my experiment, what would be the control, ind. and dep. variable and a good hypothesis?

whose mouth is cleanest: a dog's, cat's or a human's?

I don't think you have control group. Your IV would be your different groups cat's, dog's, and human's mouths. Your DV is what you're measuring, the amount of bacteria colonies you count after the surfaces have contact with the mouth.

Good hypothesis? State which animal's mouth will be the cleanest. In my experiment, what would be the control, ind. and dep. variable and a good hypothesis?
control- what you are comparing the mouths to (you have to do something to them to have a control)

ind. variable- what you are doing to the mouths

dep. variable- the outcome or what happens because of the indep. variable

hypothesis- If i compare a dog's mouth, a cat's mouth, and a human's mouth, the (dog, cat, or human)'s mouth will be the cleanest*?

*i suggest being specific with 'clean' for ex., most lacking in bacteria =]

good luck!
i don't think you would have a control if your comparing the them. one of your variables would be the amount of bacteria found in each mouth %26amp; your hypothesis is what you think the conclusion will be so your on your own there
