Need help need to know what the hypothesis, independent variable, dependent variable and control is 1st=10pts?

Materials Needed:

100 beans

(3) 250 ml beakers

*Paper towels

3 measuring cups (small white paper cups)

Pipette

Bromothymol blue solution

Parafilm

3 Rubber bands

*Water

*You must provide

Procedure: Soybean Respiration

1. Soak 50 beans for 24 hours in 200mL water.

2. Label three beakers, Beaker 1, Beaker 2, and Beaker 3.

3. Place several layers of moist paper towels at the bottom of the 250ml beakers.

4. Place 50 pre鈥恠oaked beans into Beaker 1, 50 control beans in Beaker 2, and zero beans in

Beaker 3.

5. Dispense 4ml of Bromothymol blue solution into each of the three measuring cups, and place

the measuring cup inside each beaker.

6. Stretch Parafilm across the top of each beaker. Secure with a rubber band to create an airtight

seal. Note: If your Parafilm breaks, plastic wrap can also be used.

7. Place the beakers on a shelf or table, and let sit undisturbed at room temperature.

8. Observe the jars at 30 minute intervals for three hours, and record any color change of the

Bromothymol blue in Table 7.2.

9. Let the beans and the jar sit overnight. Record your observation in Table 7.2.Need help need to know what the hypothesis, independent variable, dependent variable and control is 1st=10pts?
hypothesis, Soaking soybeans in water will change their rate of respiration.

independent variable: (variable that is changed) Pre-soaking of beans, or lack of pre-soaking.

dependent variable: (variable that depends on independent variable) Respiration, as indicated by color changes in bromothymol blue and pressure changes.

control: beans that are not soaked at all and no beans. also, experimental conditions are controlled between beakers, ie. everything besides the beans is the same.
