I am doing an experiment involving pH and its effects on seed germination and growth. I have decided to use vinegar (aetic acid) and chlorine bleach (sodium hypochlorite) to decrease and increase the pH. However, I am afraid that the compounds may alter the growth independent of the pH. For example, what if the sodium cation that is dissolved from the bleach affects the growth independent of the high pH? Any not too complex solutions?Hoe can I control the variables?
You might try to use NaCl to make the solutions equimolar. or for each pH have a paired control w/ salt.
