The control is the part of the experiment that does not change. It is what you compare the variable to. The variable is the part of the experiment that changes.





For example:


In the experiment where you color celery with food die, the control is a stock of celery in normal, clear water. The variable would be the food die that is added to the water. So you set up a stock in red, blue or orange water. For the results, you compare the stock of celery from the control (which remains the normal color) to the stock from the died water (the stock changes color)

A variable would be a letter that represents a number, for example, the most universal variable in an equation is x. As far as a control, I have no idea.
