What is a controlling variable in science?

It should be control variable, not controlling variable.





It is spurious things that you know will influence the variable you are measuring in a major way. Hence, you should control for it.





For example, if you want to determine the influence of shoe size on IQ, you might want to control for age, as it is a major influence on both.What is a controlling variable in science?
