What is a dependant,independant,and controlled variable?(science)?

im doing my science project and i forgot what those areWhat is a dependant, independant, and controlled variable?(science)?
an independent variable is a variable whose changes affect the dependent variable. the independent variable also tends to happen at equal intervals. such as time. time is usually your independent variable but not always.

a dependent variable is a variable that changes in response to the independent variable. like say your measuring plant growth over a period of four weeks. your independent variable would be time (like days or weeks) and your dependent variable would be the amount of growth say in like cm.

a controlled variable would be the variable that YOU control. say, in the same experiment, your controlled variable would be like amount of soil, amount of water etc. don't put in things that you can't control.

hope this helps i hated doing science fair and lab reports and stuff
