How would you control variables such as plant location or amount or type of soil?

For light you can rotate plants through positions so they all experience all light conditions. Or, you could use a lightmeter to ensure they are all experiencing the same light intensity.





For soil, you would mix all the soil you need up in a large container and then distribute it to pots evenly by mass.
