Which is the control? Which is the variable?

There are 2 groups: A group of mice given a low diet in protein and a group given mormal protein diet. Everything else is the same except the protein diets. Their trying to figure out if and why mice fed seeds appear to grow more than one given leafy green and yellow vegetables. So now I ask, Which is the control and which is the variable? They said they hypotesize the protein in the seeds caused the growth. Please help!! A VEEERRRYYY EASY Ten points!Which is the control? Which is the variable?

Dependent variable(what is being measured): the size of the mouse
