What is a control? and what is a variable? ?

im doing a project------dont give me a long answers---i know one means something u change and something u dont change can sum1 tell me which is whichWhat is a control? and what is a variable? ?
control is something that doesn't change.

variable are what you experiment on.

.What is a control? and what is a variable? ?
variable means changing.

a control remains constant through all subjects and experiments

  • Whats the difference between a controlled variable and a constant variable?!?!?

    I'm working on my science fair project and need answers FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!Whats the difference between a controlled variable and a constant variable?!?!?
    A controlled variable is something that is part of the control group. A constant variable is something that can be altered, but is kept constant during the experimentation.

    Let's say I have a group of chemicals that I want to test for reaction with, say, HCl. The controlled variable would be one that is not tested at all during the experiment - this would show that your experiment does have some effect (and not that the chemicals you're testing would have reacted whether you tested them or not.) The constant variable would be how much HCl you use to test with, and also how much of each chemical is being tested. You might discover that chemical A reacts at a level of 2 when tested with 5 ml of HCl and at a level of 4 when tested with 10 ml, but that chemical B reacts at a level of 1 when tested with 5 ml of HCl and at a level of 5 when tested with 10 ml. I'm just pulling those numbers out of thin air, but you get my drift.

    What is a variable ?? What is a control ?

    I need to study =P

    Thanks !!What is a variable ?? What is a control ?
    The control is the part of the experiment that does not change. It is what you compare the variable to. The variable is the part of the experiment that changes.

    For example:

    In the experiment where you color celery with food die, the control is a stock of celery in normal, clear water. The variable would be the food die that is added to the water. So you set up a stock in red, blue or orange water. For the results, you compare the stock of celery from the control (which remains the normal color) to the stock from the died water (the stock changes color)

    Hope this helps!What is a variable ?? What is a control ?
    A variable would be a letter that represents a number, for example, the most universal variable in an equation is x. As far as a control, I have no idea.

    Need help identifying independent variable, dependent variable, and the control for my experiment?

    hey everybody! I am doing a science experiment and I need to identify the independent variable, dependent variable, and the control.

    okay so here is the experiment:

    What brand of soap foams the best when heated in the microwave?

    procedure:

    # Unwrap a bar of Ivory鈩?soap.

    # Place the bar of soap on a paper plate or microwave-safe dish.

    # Nuke your soap. Watch the soap closely to see what happens.

    # Depending on microwave power, your soap will reach its maximum volume within 90 second to 2 minutes. If you microwave the soap longer (I went up to 6 minutes) nothing bad will happen, but the soap won't continue to grow.

    #Measure the length and width of the soap foam and record the data.

    #Repeat the above steps with the two other brands of soap.

    Materials:

    * bar of Ivory鈩?soap, bar of Dove soap, and a bar of Olay soap

    * paper plate or microwave-safe dish

    * microwave oven

    * electric circuit

    so please help me identify the variables and control. Thank you :)Need help identifying independent variable, dependent variable, and the control for my experiment?
    Independent variables answer the question ';What do I change?';.

    Dependent variables answer the question ';What do I observe?';.

    Controlled variables answer the question ';What do I keep the same?';.

    Control variable - things that stay the same - time, temp, paper plate, microwave power

    Independent varialble - the thing your are testing - soaps

    Dependent - bubbles/foam

    Define dependant independant and controlled variable please?

    The terms ';dependent variable'; and ';independent variable'; are used in similar but subtly different ways in mathematics and statistics as part of the standard terminology in those subjects. They are used to distinguish between two types of quantities being considered, separating them into those available at the start of a process and those being created by it, where the latter (dependent variables) are dependent on the former (independent variables).

    The independent (or manipulated) variable is something that the experimenter purposely changes or varies over the course of the investigation. The dependent (or responding) variable is the one that is observed and likely changes in response to the independent variable.

    For example, a student might change the position of a plane鈥檚 wing to see how it affects the average speed of a model plane. The wing position would be the independent variable- because the student purposely changes its location. The average speed would be the dependent variable since the average speed would depend on the location of the wing.

    When conducting an experiment, all other variables must be kept the same throughout the investigation; they should be controlled. The variables that are not changed are called controlled variables.

    What is a controlled variable?

    A science term, please put definition. Thanks!What is a controlled variable?
    The controlled variable is the thing that you try to keep the same. Like using the same materials, same stopwatch, same temperature etc.What is a controlled variable?
    You are probably talking about the ';discrete random variable.';

    This term is used in statistics and it means a variable that changes within specifc limits or parameters and focuses on only a few factors that causes changes or fluctiations in that variable.

    A discrete random variable is one of the ';controlled variables'; but there are more types of them.
    I think its the variable that you change... or changes naturaly... shoot! *looks in binder, serriously* yeah... i threw out the paper cuz my teach told me to.. :-(

    In an experimental design, the variable over which the researcher has control, and which is different for the?

    treatment and control groups, is called the _____.

    Good luck!In an experimental design, the variable over which the researcher has control, and which is different for the?
    None of those are correct. It is the independent variable.
